Call for Volunteer!! 

NYCA is a coalition of Nepali youth and youth groups formed with an aim to tackle climate change,the biggest challenge of our gerneration.

NYCA chapter Pokhara is looking for volunteers who are highly interested to spent some of their time to contribute in climate,to play a role to bring cleaner future and sustainable Nepal. 

Why to volunteer? 

1.When you volunteer you give something back to the community by a helping hand to the organization.

  2. You may not realize but its you who makes a difference in community and come acrosd with many experiences .

Experience Sharing Session with Ms. Shreya K.C., National Network Coordinator of NYCA

NYCA pokhara comes with the series of webinar and we gladly present  webinar on “Experience sharing session about COP-25” on May 21 .Miss. Shreya Kc. is central Network coordinator of NYCA and climate activist.She will share journey of Cop-25.

Shreya K.C. is an environmental and climate activist. Over the last 4 years, she has actively been involved in spreading awareness, advocating policies and taking action for environment and climate issues. Currently, she is the face of Nepalese Youth for Climate Action (NYCA), a national youth network tackling climate change where she serves as National Network Coordinator and is responsible for overall networking of it. She has spoken in numerous forums including  Sagarmatha National Sambaad and National Youth Forum. 

She is a recipient of Youth Climate Scholarship 2019 and participated in COY 15 and COP 25 where she presented the intervention of YOUNGO in the closing plenary as well spoke with High level delegates of Nepal in Press Conference. She believes on the power of youth momentum and urge every youth to fight for socio-environmental justice through any means, be it with education or activism or else. 

Undergraduate of Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, she is also a research grantee at Resources Himalaya Foundation.

VIRTUAL WEBINAR ON “IMPACTS OF COVID-19 IN CLIMATE”

This  lockdown has  made people to realize world is small where people from any part of the globe can connect and share their experience by sitting at their own home.

 

NYCA Pokhara came with the same thought of connecting youth virtually and  has successfully organized virtual webinar on 

“Impacts Of Covid -19 in Climate ” on May 3 ,Sunday.

One and half hour session revolved around the ideas of how Covid-19 is related with the environment. Hope the interactive session with knowledge acquiring activities was able to solve and answer the queries and confusion  of our participants.

Foremost, we would like to express our deep gratitude to our resource person Mr.Lalmani wagle sir for his great efforts to  make this webinar successful.

Introducing our Resource person for webinar “Impact Of Covid-19 in Climate ” on May 3, Mr.Lalmani Wagle

Lal Mani coordinates action research and implementation related work focus on climate change adaptation in urban context of Nepal and climate change adaptation options for landless and smallholder people.

 He contributed to prepare Municipal Adaptation Plan of Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City and Birendranagar Municipality focusing on adaptation options for urban poor of Western Nepal. Though his primary focus is climate change, he has also been engaging on research and policy discourse of water pollution, air pollution and other environmental issues.

 

 Mr. Wagle holds the Master’s Degree on Environmental Science from Tribhuvan University. Before joining CEN, Lal Mani worked as a Policy Coordinator for Nepalese Youth for Climate Action (NYCA) from 2014 to 2016. Mr. Wagle endeavor to be an environmental researcher sensitized with policy and application aspects.

First, NYCA family would like to thank all the participants who have played their roles for preventing climate change. This video contest wouldn’t have been successful without your efforts 😍.

It was very tough to select the bestest among the best and by considering all terms the winner of this video contest goes to Mr.Sarad Pokhrel (contestant no.10)who have successfully shown the concept of reuse of plastic bottles. Your prize will be given to you after lockdown.

Likewise, We would like to appreciate Mamta Adhikari, Sonika Poudel, Nisha Subedi, Gaurav Thakur and Sandip Pokhrel  for conveying excellent message through their videos.

Earth day is April 22 of every year! April 22,2020 will mark 50 years of Earth day. The theme for Earth day 2020 is Climate action.

 So, on this occasion of earth day NYCA POKHARA is going to conduct a video competition on :

“HOW INDIVIDUAL ACTION IMPACT ON PREVENTING CLIMTE CHANGE?”

As every individual has a role to play and every action  counts I request all the talented young  Nepali minds to take part in this competition and convey your message to others.

NEPALESE YOUTH FOR CLIMATE ACTION PRESENTS PROVINCIAL YOUTH CONSULTATION ON NDC & SAGARMATHA SAMBAAD

College of Natural Resource Management, Puranchaur.

Some glimpses from Provincial Youth Climate Consultation on NDCs and Sagarmatha Sambad held on College of Natural Resource Management, Puranchaur.

Around 90 students from Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science, Lamjung, Institute of Forestry, Pokhara and College of Natural Resource Management, Puranchaur participated in the half day consultation.

A Province-4 Youth Agenda Paper was prepared as Final outcome paper followed up by round of discussions and team work among seven different teams- Glacier, Avalanche, GLOF, Bushfire, The Third Pole, Plastic Emergency and Climate Rangers.

The Youth Agenda Paper will be finalized by series of online discussions. Till then, feedbacks and additions are highly welcomed. Please write to us for more.

We would like to extend our special thanks to College of Natural Resources Management for providing us necessary support during the whole event.

Thank you to all the enthusiastic youth for your participation and active involvement in making this consultation successful.

 

Candle Lighting Program

Today on 15th of January candle ligthning program was conducted in the collaboration of NYCA POKHARA and AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL PURANCHAUR YOUTH NETWORK to express heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family of late Dilip Kumar Mahato(a young environmental activist) who was mudererd while raising his voice against illegal mining of natural resources.
We,call for the urgent and brutal punishment to murderer and urge authorities to excercise due diligence in the investigation and punishment of perpetrators.

Hand over of “ Biratnagar Declaration”

Miss BinduPoudel, executive member of NYCA Pokhara and Ashish Poudel, participant of 6th National Youth Climate Change Conference (NYCCC) has handed over the “Biratnagar Declaration” to the honourable mayor of Pokhara Metropolitan City Mr. Man Bahadur G.C.
The declaration was prepared by 90 youths from 58 different districts representing all provinces of Nepal.
