The National Youth Conference on Climate Change (NYCCC) is the flagship biannual national platform of Nepalese Youth for Climate Action (NYCA), bringing together young people from across Nepal to learn, connect, share ideas, and take action on climate change. Over the years, 10 editions of NYCCC have been successfully completed, making it an important platform for strengthening youth leadership and participation in climate action in Nepal.
NYCCC goes beyond being a conference. It provides a space where young people can connect their local and grassroots experiences with national climate policies and priorities. It also brings youth together with policymakers, climate experts, researchers, civil society organizations, development partners, and the private sector, creating opportunities for meaningful dialogue and collaboration.
The conference covers important issues such as climate adaptation and mitigation, biodiversity conservation, clean energy, waste and pollution management, climate finance, climate justice, and nature-based solutions. Through panel discussions, workshops, policy dialogues, and skill-building sessions, participants gain knowledge, practical skills, and opportunities to develop solutions and advocate for meaningful change.
A key strength of NYCCC is its focus on turning discussions into action. Each edition contributes to youth declarations, policy recommendations, and action plans that help guide youth-led climate initiatives at local, provincial, and national levels. The outcomes of previous editions have also contributed to national climate policy processes, including youth perspectives on Nepal's Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC 3.0).
